The story is about a basketball game in 1965-66. The name of the school is Texas Western College. Their Coach Don Haskins is the first coach to field a starting line-up of Black and White. Coach Don spoke to the black people who would like to play basketball. There is a basketball training season beginning; they had lots of training on court. Coach said to Bobby Joe Hill you'll play basketball my way. My way is hard. Bobby Joe Hill told him do you want me to get you a skirt? I'll get you a skirt if you keep playing like a girl!. But the coach gives them lots of running and they didn’t listen to the coach. He had learnt through personal experience that African American players were given an equal opportunity to play in college. The black people went to the party without their coach. When they got there, they said they looked like a Mexican but the Mexican people don’t like their colour or voice. Next morning the black players were so tired. But their coach knew what was going on. Both African American and white players showed great teamwork and many acts of great courage. They played the semi-final but it was tied. The other teams coach always called Time out! Before the final, Don rang the boys to come to the court, he decided to play just his 7 black players in the final game. Next day they played against Kentucky. Later Willie Cager’s mum asks his coach to please let her son play for even if its 5 minutes or 5 seconds. He was one of the best players. In the end they won the championship against Kentucky. The coach was happy and proud of his players on his team.
